About Us

The Cemetery is a Class B Cemetery.

It operates within an environment with several external factors that influence the way in which it conducts its business.

Kilmore Public Cemetery, located at 165 Kilmore-Lancefield Road, Kilmore offers a beautiful and tranquil setting in which friends and family can reflect and memorialise their loved ones.

Kilmore Public Cemetery was gazetted in April 1850. The first burial took place approximately one month later. The headstone is located within the cemetery, but it is not in its original location

Originally the Cemetery was arranged in a traditional grid with sections reserved for different denominations and traditions.  In the 1970s, the Kilmore Public Cemetery adopted an inclusive approach and memorials are no longer separated into religious groups.

There are traditional monumental graves and lawn graves. The Cemetery’s niche wall and rose garden are available for interment of ashes.

Newer sections of the Cemetery are being designed to complement the existing landscape to meet community preferences.

Everyone has the right to honour the life of a loved one in the way they choose. We offer a culturally diverse range of burial and cremation memorial options to help families observe traditions and ceremonies that are important to them.

Gazebo

Our Gazebo allows families to sit undercover when visiting a loved one.

In consideration of other mourners, the Cemetery requires that patrons remove their rubbish when leaving.

Bookings are not taken for this facility. However, the Trust Secretary should be informed of the intended day and time of use as the Gazebo is in close proximity to grave-sites and a funeral may be booked on the same day. Funerals will take priority.
